Joy. Found. My baby girl in San Jose, CA

My newest work camera, the Canon 5D Mark II has this fabulous HD video feature. Brian and I had fun testing it out on Lydia for her third birthday. Isn’t she sweet?? To see the video in higher definition, click here: Lydia Grace Turns 3 from Brian Mayer on Vimeo.

Images. Perfected. Whether you are a parent with a point-and-shoot or a aspiring professional photographer, in these posts I will share some simple tricks and some of my own “secrets” to capturing the moments of life beautifully.

About great inspiration-

Ideas. Introduced. In these post I will highlight some great ideas I have found, from a cool way to display your child’s artwork, to a great place to have your photo session.

Sweetness. Scouted. We are all always on the lookout for a great pizza place, a fun new boutique or a great on-line shopping hot spot. Here I will highlight some of my great finds locally as well as on the web.

About life-

Chaos. Tamed. Here is my little “How I do it” share. I don’t have it all together, no way! But I have found some unique and some pretty simple ways to corral my busy household and I would love to share them with you.

Joy. Found. Funny, sad, heartwarming and crazy tales about my life as a mother of four, a wife of one and a crazy small business owner. I promise to give you a laugh, a cry or little better perspective on your own life!

About other great people-

Love. Shared. I love my job for one reason; its all about family. Here I will share with you some of my thoughts on my wonderful clients and their lovely families.

Giggles. Heard. Here you will find a great little interview, giving me clients a platform to share the love they have for their own families. How sweet!

Day Sixteen. A little favorite of mine.

Today I had the pleasure of photographing a whole host of little darlings on Molly’s porch, one of my favorite locations. Thank you, Molly! I have been capturing Molly’s little man since he was just crawling and now he is a big-brother! He is so stinking adorable its crazy. After our shoot on the porch we headed inside and this little man showed off his most treasured possesion; his guitar. Isn’t he the cutest?

Day Fifteen. The man I love.

I am one of the world’s luckiest women. Seriously. Ten years and one month ago I married a man who, I now realize,  I hardley knew. We met on December 31st, 1997 and we married December, 31st, 1998. I was only 22 years old! I do believe that God had a hand in it all. We could have discovered, as we grew to know one another, that we were crazy to marry so young and so fast (well, I think our parents might think so, no matter what). Instead, we have discovered that we are perfectly suited for one another. I cannot imagine a better friend and companion. (This crazy, “let’s just do it” attitude has become our family mantra, actually)

As we celebrated ten years of marriage last month, I couldn’t help but dream of the years to come. It seems that with each anniversary I love him more than the last. When it seems impossible to grow closer or more content, I do. I can’t wait to see where we will be in another ten years!

Thank you, Brian, for sharing life with me, for loving me completely, and for being my best friend. I love you.

Day Fourteen. Happy Birthday Lydia!

Well, her birthday was a couple of weeks ago, but I love this shot of her blowing out her candles like the big-girl she is. She has changed so dramatically over the last few months and even weeks, I can hardely believe it. Her new favorite activity is pretending; pretending to be a mommy, pretending to be a doggy, pretending to go to the beach . . . It is so delightful to watch as her little mind unfolds into to a little lady. I will try to capture a few shots of her elaborate set-ups for you soon.  For now, here is my big-birthday-girl . . .

Day thirteen. A new little Max in Campbell.

There are few things sweeter than that new-mama love. Little Max’s mama loves him with everything she has and she just glows with it.

Our first take at capturing his adorableness was nothing short of a disaster. He just wasn’t going to have it. So we rescheduled and I told his mama I had this cool vision for his photos but that we needed a nice warm day with no rain to make it happen. Today dawned sunny and pretty warm, despite a forecast of rain, rain, rain. So despite the insanity of my day at home juggeling the social calendars of four kids on my own, I snuck Mr. Max in. We ran over to the field near my house that we’d used for Lydie’s photo shoot and in just 30 minutes we captured a whole lotta’ newborn goodness. Funny, too, since I was at his house for 1.5 hours and got nothin’! I have so many sweet ones, can’t wait to show Max’s mommy, but for now, just a little sneak peek.

Day Twelve. A really fun project: Testimonials!

I have wanted to finish this project for, oh, five years. I finally made the time to make it happen. I have some wonderful and happy clients and they were happy to share thier thoughts with me and with you. What a fun project for me! I can’t say I didn’t love to hear the “love” come back to me. Here is one sweet testimonial. Check out the rest of them here.

Recently I was asked “What really make you happy” and I honestly answered…. Anna Mayer! Whenever there is a bit of doubt in the world, maybe some uncertainty about this strange economy, what is constant and true are the amazing memories that you have captured throughout the years! When I reflect on those moments in time while thumbing through my beloved albums, happy thoughts come to mind. I thank you for that, from the very bottom of my heart.

Day eleven. A favorite of mine from Capitola.

I couldn’t have been more excited about the results of my family’s photo shoot in November at the beach in Capitola.  So much fun! It had been a year and a half since I had gathered my clan to capture them. I wanted to commemorate our last California Christmas as a family (our family is moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in June, but don’t worry, I will still be here to take care of my clients!) with a totally “California” look. I just love how our relationship with the baby of the family is revealed here.

Day ten. Cool old wheels in San Jose.

I love this little man. I have been photographing him since before he was born. :-) He is also the adorable little man in the mud for a year ago. See post here. At this photo shoot I was actually photographing his mama, who was expecting a little sister. But he just looked so cute in his great-grandma’s car I couldn’t resist.
