I am so excited to share our first “model” pooch who posed for our portfolio. Meet Penelope Jane, the most delicious of canines. Isn’t she wonderful?

This year’s image contest has been our hottest yet! What an amazing response. Today we crushed our record number of visitors even with a couple of hours down with technical difficulties. So . . . to celebrate, we are doing a crazy, one day special that YOU get to take advantage of. Send your friends here, too, so they don’t miss out.
Now that {WAS} a CRAZY GOOD DEAL!
Here’s how it works.
-ONLY the first 10 bookings will qualify, so don’t wait.
-Fill out the contact form or call/email Rachel to schedule your session by 5 pm on tomorrow (03/24).
-Pay your deposit securely by credit card by calling Rachel at, 408-221-4570, by 5 pm Wednesday (03/25)
-Your session must take place in March or April, 2009.
*Note, our April short & sweet will be held at our new studio in Los Gatos. If there are more bookings and/interest we will add a second date at Santana Row.

If you came here earlier today to vote in our contest and saw that our “Account was Suspended” please accept our apologies! No, we didn’t forget to pay the bill
Because of the way our site was setup and the fact that the response to this year’s contest has been unprecedented (we set our all-time high for our site visitors in one day . . . twice!), our site caused a server overload and so our webhost had to shut us down! In working with our host, we have resolved the issue once and for all. Yeah! Because of this, for a short period users will not be able to register on the site. Users with an existing username and password can still login on the sidebar. We’ll post a tweet on the sidebar when user registrations are open again. Again, we’re sorry for any inconvenice!
With a record-breaking turnout for our first round, we are highly anticipating a very lively final round with our 8 finalists. Go see if one of the images you voted for made it through, and vote for your fav! This round will end on 3/24 at 5pm, so spread the word!
Are you a happy dog owner? Do you have a funny, expressive pooch who just NEEDS to be photographed? I am adding pet portrait services to my offerings, for those of you with four legged “babies” and I can’t wait! And if you are lucky enough to be reading this post in time, your puppy can be my studio “model”. Just fill out our contact form and then email images@annamayer.com with a snapshot of your adorable, furry friend. If your dog has the look we are looking for you will be eligible for a FREE photo shoot and $75 credit toward prints. No kidding!

Don’t wait!! We only need a couple of “models” for this project. Don’t miss out!!
Its that time of year again! Time to enjoy some beautiful images and for some lucky families to win some great prizes! Click on here or on the contest button above to kick off this years voting. The rules have changes a little, so read the instructions before you vote! Have fun!
No, not the behemoth search engine; GOGGLES! Those adorable things that squish ears and make little eyes all wonky. I am working on a personal project; kids in goggles. I hope to create a book, a web-gallery, maybe an art gallery and perhaps even get it published!! Now I just need some little faces and fun goggles.
Read below to find out how you can have your child photographed by Anna for FREE!

How will work:
-You find a cute kid (well, you should already own said child, for legal reasons)
-You find some fun or unique goggles (the kind for swimming, snorkeling or flying B-52 bombers)
-You snap a photo of your child in these goggles (this can be a camera phone, a crappy point and shoot, whatever!)
-You use the contact form to apply to be included in the project.
-You also email a jpg of your child’s goggle shot to images@annamayer.com
-We decide your kid and your goggles are what we need for the project (no one will be turned away for being funny-lookin’, only if we’ve already captured the same age/sex and/or goggles).
-We set aside a time and place to meet to shoot a few images (This will take about 15 minutes).
-You sign a model release, allowing Anna to use the image for the project, for sale, etc. (kinda’ the whole point)
-We send you a link to see a handful of my favorites.
-You tell us which one you love. (well, love the MOST. You WILL love them all)
-We send you a full resolution file of that image (with our logo in the bottom corner)*
-We post some very silly shots of kids in goggles for all to enjoy!
*you are welcome to purchase more prints/images if you choose.
I have said it before and I will say it again, I love seeing my little clients grow up! This spunky little lady is so much fun and her little brother is as cute as she is. I captured her when she was 8 months old and again last month, at 3 years old. She is just a hoot . . .
Here she is then . . .

and now . . .

So, rumor has it I am moving away . . . that is true, sort of. But Images by Anna is not moving away. In fact, we are going to be opening our new design space in Los Gatos next month. So, no worries, we are here to stay! Our family, though, after 8 wonderful years in sunny California, is headed back. Back to the “frozen north”.
If I had a dime for every time someone says to me, “You KNOW its cold there, right?”, I’d be a, well, you know . . . So, in case you were wondering if I know- I most definitely do. I grew up in Minnesota, a beautiful land filled with rolling hills, fantastic fresh-water lakes, the rocky coasts of Lake Superior, hearty people and a fantastic accent (ever heard me speak? Ask me to tell you “about my boat”, sometime.). Oh, and snow. Lots of snow. Before moving to San Jose, my husband and I lived WAY UP NORTH, an hour NORTH of Duluth, MN. We were just 15 minutes from the coldest town in the lower 48!!! Somehow, with just one pair of mittens, (that’s another post) we survived. But there are other things, warm and cozy things, to consider, like . . . family.
My family is all back there, in the Midwest. They all live in Minnesota; every one of them! My sister and brother are both married with kids, my nieces and nephews, and my parents and grandparents are there, too. We miss them so much, all the time. Brian’s family all lives in Michigan; every one of them! We miss them too. It is hard, and expensive, to travel with a family of six, and we just can’t seem to get enough visits in to keep us happy. After eight years of being too far away, something stirred within us to look toward home. So, we opened the map . . .
There was certainly a lot more to it; kind of a long tale, actually. We didn’t just wave our fingers over the map and point. But we did have the whole United States of America, and somehow, we found our little red pin landing on Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am guessing a good number of you haven’t even heard of it. Ha! Well, that’s okay. If you are a loyal blog reader, you will soon be an expert on the fine city of Milwaukee. One thing I can tell you right now, and I am so excited about, is that Milwaukee is less than 6 hours from my sister in Minnesota and just over that to my in-laws in Detroit! After 8 years of being separated by plane tickets and airports, that sounds pretty good to me. Not to mention being just over an hour north of Chicago, on Lake Michigan and in a wonderful, gritty mid-western city.
So, I bet you are wondering how this works. I am moving my family of six 2000 miles away. How exactly do I plan to keep up with your needs here in California? Well, we do have a plan to do just that. Once each month I will be flying out here for 5-7 days, to do my shooting (and ordering sessions). Then, the following month, you will have your appointment with me to view your images. All orders will be packaged and shipped right to your door. In almost all cases, you won’t even know the difference! Simple as that.
So Brian and I are busy figuring all of the details out. But we are enjoying the ride as we set off on a new adventure; one that will be bitter-sweet and exciting, frightening and exhilarating. That’s what adventure is all about. So, stay tuned for more details about our huge move. I will keep you posted! -Anna

Photo note: One of the things I love about a mid-western city is the urban landscape. A little bit old, a little new, a little bit gritty, but definitely filled with character.
How appropriate is the photo above for this post; the old and the new.
**Note, due to rain, we had to switch dates. A couple of families had to more their dates so now we have more room for you! Don’t miss out. Thursday the19th is our Short & Sweet day for March at the beautiful Santana Row in San Jose. Its a fun, funky and modern location that really makes your photos stand out. Call or email Rachel RIGHT NOW to lock in your spot! 408-221-4570
