Not your typical photo shoot

A session with Anna is all about fun. Her laid back approach to capturing life allows your session to unfold in a natural and genuine way. There is not a lot of staging or props, no backgrounds or say-cheese. In fact, when a shoot is going as planned, the kids barely know they are being photographed. They are instead dancing like no one is watching, exploring their world, being themselves. She might engage your child in some silly banter or tell her that if she looks straight in the big lens she might see her favorite character. Anna has discovered that it is almost always better to play and joke than to tell a child to smile or say-cheese.

Window light, the shade of a big Live Oak tree, or the gentle brilliance of sunset on the beach create beautiful images like no studio strobe can. Even more important, it allows the children and Anna the freedom to run and play in the wide world outside of the studio walls. There is something very special about images of your sweet daughter in her little-girl room or your husband and son on their favorite beach. Natural light makes that possible.

The images Anna creates have a unique style as well. She spends time with your session, after the fact, choosing the best from the collection captured on the day of the shoot. Once the frames are selected she works with each image individually to bring out the elements that make that image tell its story most effectively. Her style is bright and colorful. She loves to find bold combinations of colors and bring out the beauty of them, although she is not afraid to follow the path the images leads her down and create some moody, beautiful black and whites. The images dictate the look they are given in the final product. Some images just wow us in bold, vibrant color. Others elicit a gentle, warm mood in black and white. No matter which way an image goes, you can feel confident that the artistic vision she had will shine through.
