I love snow. I love to see it, blanketing the dark, dirty world with its cleansing purity. I love to build it into a happy snowman, to greet our guests as they pull up to our kid-filled home. I love to barrel down the slopes on it, with the wind reminding me I am alive. I even love to shovel it. I know, crazy, right? But there is something deeply satisfying about being able to see, so clearly, the fruits of your efforts.

Much of this winter in Milwaukee was brown and dead. No beautiful snow to soften the blow of winter’s chill. It was lame. Then, to my delight, we got “dumped on”, as they say, and then dumped on again. All is right in my wintry world again.

So, let’s go sledding! This old Radio Flyer is our favorite sled. If you don’t have one, you should. This one was Tyler’s, but I saw a few at an antique store for a lot less than I paid for it. Super fast, and better yet, super smooth; which is perfect for “old” people like Brian and I. Sledding is better with friends.The snow was kinda’ sticky.Whee! Terror + Giggles = JOY Mmm, yum. I was so excited to capture this. Every time I slide down the hill, this is what I see. I always think to myself This is the true image of mama-sledding, this is the picture I want to remember forever. Check it out; I am in a photo !!

During our lovely visit with my siblings over Thanksgiving we did their annual photo sessions. My nephew, Owen, has grown into a handsome young man. He is so photogenic! Love ya, dude. (that was 1/2 cool for Auntie Anna to say, lol)

I was so blessed to have my brother, sister and their families come to our house from Minnesota for Thanksgiving. We had pounds and pounds of food, hours of laughter and two photo shoots with their adorable little people. Little Jenna just steals the show with her unique beauty. Look at her!! I just want to eat her up!

I posted about a session I had with some adorable boys whom I’ve been capturing for years now. Click here to see that post of cuteness. I was so excited to see what their very stylish mommy and I came up with (oh, Ryan, you get credit, too. :0) for using their latest session image. These sweet sisters sure made me smile. There was plenty of joy to capture! I think I have a photo somewhere of my sister and I playing piano; so classic. When I travel from Milwaukee to San Jose for photo sessions, I never know what kind of joy I am going to find, but I am often so delighted when I discover it. This session was no exception. Love love love what we captured.

How cool is it, that in these fun photos of adorable boys, you can see the photos from a previous session up on the wall behind them? I love it! Of course, I’ll have to go back again to capture the new display they now have from THIS session. Maybe next year I can take a photo of them in front of the photo of them with the photo of them in the background! Ha! Sounds kind of Alice-in-Wonderland, doesn’t it?

Anyone else just love “soup season” ? Lucky for me, it lasts for a looong time in the Midwest. Something like 9 months!! But after a hot, sticky, soup-free summer, I was beyond stoked to fire up my stock pot and whip up some Greek Avgolemono, or Greek Chicken Lemon soup. Yum yum yummy!! And one of the very best parts of making soups?? Leftovers gallore!

Man, I could have a dozen of these!! Newborn photography in Milwaukee.

I had a lovely time yesterday, took the day off (just got home from California) and I headed straight over to my neighbor’s house to see her latest little one, the one I wrote about in this post. Before I knew it, I had been there for nearly three hours (this NEVER happens to me, the lady with a million things to do and always working). It was heavenly. Thanks for letting my crash your day, Jill. Today I headed back over to capture little Poppy more formally. She is sooo cute! You might remember the photo I posted from her mama’s maternity session. Little miss Poppy was perfectly lovely for her session. Isn’t she beautiful?

I really loved this session. The girls were just sweet and fun and they had no problem showing me all the cool things they could do in their spectacular backyard. In the hour I was with them we managed to capture a whole lotta’ “childhood” for their mama; an especially wonderful gift when you children are older and have one foot in the more grown-up (and sometimes less sweet) world of a teenager.
