My family and I lived in California for nearly a decade, including my entire career as a photographer. I always looked at other photographers’ gorgeous snowy photos and wished I had access to such beauty. So lovely and so reminiscent of my childhood joys, growing up in Minnesota. I am delighted to be back here in the beautiful Midwest, where I can have happy sessions with bundled up kiddos in the lovely blanket of frozen joy. How much fun is it this; sledding, ice skating, building a snowman, throwing snowballs and making snow angels, all followed up with a warm cup of hot chocolate, enjoyed by a darling child with rosy-red cheeks that can only be found on a fresh-from-the-snowy-outdoors kiddo. For some reason, we typically don’t think about having a session in the snow. But what a perfect place! So many memories of life in Milwaukee are found out there, why not capture that forever?

The sweet deal:

I’d really like to round out my snowy photos gallery with some cute little bundles so I need one model family to be the subjects of my first winter session. If you want to be chosen there are a few guidelines you’ll need to follow:

-Your kiddos need to be between 18 months and 6 years old (if you have a couple in that range plus one more above or below, that works, too) and you need to have at least two (or a small group of cousins, must be related)

-You need to have cute, bright, happy winter gear. Include a photo in your inquiry.

-New clients only, because we love new clients. (previous clients are eligible for the 50% discount sessions, because we love you, too)

-You need to live in the Milwaukee metro area.

-You will need to sign a full model release so we can use the finished images to show off this type of session.

Please submit your request for consideration to info@annamayer.com or use our contact form to apply. One winner will be chosen and announced here soon.

What you will receive: A 1 hour photo session with Anna at a date/time that is flexible, due to unpredictable snow, wind and sun. During this session we can play out in the snow, build a snowman, go sledding, go ice skating etc followed by some hot cocoa at home or at your favorite coffee house. A 10×20 storyboard of 4-5 images from the session, chosen by Anna. A personal ordering session to review your images with Brian, at which, no purchase is required, but you will receive 20% off anything you chose to purchase that day.

This offer is worth over $550!

The Discount:

Not everyone will win the Sweet Deal, but you don’t have to miss out. We are offering just three sessions for our new and returning clients for 50% off the sitting fee. Sweet, right? Book today, because these will be gone in a flash. (the only requirement for these sessions is a signed model release)

Awww. How can you not just say “Awww” to an image like this one? I first photographed Big Sister when she was one year old, four years ago. She was as beautiful as can be back then, as she is now (although she’s certainly gotten busier!). It was fun to see her new little brother, now one year old, and to capture the two of them together. What mother wouldn’t simply treasure an image like this of her kids? I know I would. Such loves.

And we pulled out the white paper to capture some pure simplicity of little brother, just like I had for his sister years ago in my studio. I love this one.

Now you can order this!

We’ve gotten so much attention from this post, that we decided to launch a site where you can create your own, easy to install photo wall gallery! You can have us create an unframed photo gallery on Masonite, a metal gallery of squares and rectangles, or a group of canvases that work together to tell your story. See WallGalleries.com by clicking the image below to see how! (Note: we’ve also updated the post image/link to reflect the new site.)

One of my favorite places in our house is this certain corner of my couch. I don’t sit there to watch TV or to enjoy a fire in the fireplace. In fact, you can’t even see those things from there. I sit there and gaze at the wall where a large gallery of photos looks back at me; photos of my children, my family, our life. Some of them are happy, some are serious, some are just plain silly. All of them are a beautiful tribute to our life together and the four little lives I am watching unfold before me. Sometimes when I am enjoying the view I smile to myself. I smile because I know that I have had a hand in creating hundreds of beautiful memories just like this for countless families in Silicon Valley and beyond.

I so love my job! I truly believe that what I do is important. I don’t just record an image that shows what a child looks like at two or five or nine. Instead, I seek to record his spirit, her energy, and the love they share with siblings and parents. Capturing that spirit is at the heart of every encounter I have. Ooooh, I get goose-bumps just thinking about it. What a privilege it is to be a special part of the lives of so many families!

If you want to see a whole lotta’ cool galleries that my clients have shared, visit the Images by Anna Facebook page.

As a portrait photographer, I find myself doing about 50% of my year’s work in just two and a half months. It can be exhausting!! But somehow we always come through for our clients and we always get it all done, with time to spare. I may have a sore tush and a hand that is begging for me to step away from the mouse, but it will all be done, none-the-less!!

Your images: This lovely little family belongs to my wonderful assistant, Rachel. This was a sort of “farewell” session for her, as she has moved on to other pursuits and is heading back to school. I miss the companionship of working with her but enjoy our coffee dates when I come to San Jose for shoots. Now, if I could just get her to visit Milwuakee in January, that would be fun!!

Oh, how I love these! I’ve been meaning to post these of my dear friend’s children picking blueberries for quite some time. This friend and I met on my first day as a new teacher up in Eveleth, Minnesota, one of the coldest places in the United States. I moved there with young Tyler to take my first real job as a Special Education teacher and Girls Hockey Coach. She was newly engaged and I soon became engaged as well. We were instant friends. We married just two weeks apart and we have been friends through all of the ups and downs of married life and growing families.

This shoot was a quick, rather impromptu session at a not-so-ideal time of day for photos. Thankfully, with a little maneuvering, you really can make almost any crazy lighting work. Not only was the sun high in the sky, but this entire session took place in the most unlikely location: the ditch across the road from their house. I just love the summery feel, the sweet toe-heads, and the happiness the kids felt while they popped nature’s sweetness into their mouths. Mmmm . . . so yummy!

Yeah, they really ARE this cute! Just love these boys. I first photographed big brother when he was just a little guy himself. It has been a real pleasure to capture his family as they’ve grown. He now has a little sister and a baby brother to help keep his mom and dad busy; do they ever! Little sister was not having it for the pajama fest…but the love of these brothers more than make up for it. I just adore these shots.
