My baby’s all grown up! Ty turns eighteen today.

It was one crazy day, that day my first child was born. I was seventeen years old, I had no idea what I was doing. That first night at home, exhausted from my delivery, with him crying every thirty minutes, I wondered what on earth I was doing. How on earth was I going to take care of this red, screaming bundle at seventeen? Pure crazy. But I knew, without one ounce of doubt, that I was in love with this tiny creature and that somehow, no matter what, I was going to be the best mama I possibly could. I hope I was. If how he’s turned out is any indication, I did pretty darn good!

Isn’t my boy just so handsome? I always new he was going to be one handsome man, but he turned out to be a man with a good heart. He’s funny, sweet, a great friend and a wonderful big brother. He is a brilliant engineering student and an amazing photographer. He has a bright future ahead of him and I cannot wait to see who he becomes. Happy Birthday, Ty-guy!

As we get deeper into fall, my schedule is going predictably crazy. Photoshoots galore! So fun. I have sessions with all of my awesome clients here in Milwaukee and I am just finishing up a week of shooting like crazy in San Jose, CA. Wish me luck!

Bringing up baby in San Francisco, CA

This couple was about the cutest couple I’ve ever photographed. Just too adorable, really? I had so much fun seeing them in their giddy expectation before their sweet baby girl was born. Their love for each other just warmed my heart. Then came the day to capture their little bundle of happiness. What a treat! I hope you two are snuggling up with her as you read this. Enjoy these days. They are short and sweet, I can tell you from experience.

How adorable is this little elephant? LOVE these fabrics. My sister-in-law did some kind of awesome Google search and found for me this adorable little shop, The Drawstring Studio, in Bay View; check it out. If you live in the area, you have to go visit. It’s tiny, but adorable and Danielle is lovely and helpful. I just love the variety of modern, happy fabrics. So fun! And if you are one of my San Francisco Bay area (or somewhere, USA) followers, you don’t have to miss out, because The Drawstring Studio has an Etsy store, too!

It’s hard to believe that I have time to do something like this, and, well, I really don’t. But I just LOVE creating things, whether it’s a beautiful photograph, a graphic Christmas card, a sweet baby tee or a silly little elephant. And since it’s January, and my life is a little less insane, well, I’m gonna’ steal the time and do just that. (If you are planning to stop by my house, please warn me, cuz I gave up cleaning to sew, ha!)

For the record, this is my elephant. I actually made it, he he.

My family and I lived in California for nearly a decade, including my entire career as a photographer. I always looked at other photographers’ gorgeous snowy photos and wished I had access to such beauty. So lovely and so reminiscent of my childhood joys, growing up in Minnesota. I am delighted to be back here in the beautiful Midwest, where I can have happy sessions with bundled up kiddos in the lovely blanket of frozen joy. How much fun is it this; sledding, ice skating, building a snowman, throwing snowballs and making snow angels, all followed up with a warm cup of hot chocolate, enjoyed by a darling child with rosy-red cheeks that can only be found on a fresh-from-the-snowy-outdoors kiddo. For some reason, we typically don’t think about having a session in the snow. But what a perfect place! So many memories of life in Milwaukee are found out there, why not capture that forever?

The sweet deal:

I’d really like to round out my snowy photos gallery with some cute little bundles so I need one model family to be the subjects of my first winter session. If you want to be chosen there are a few guidelines you’ll need to follow:

-Your kiddos need to be between 18 months and 6 years old (if you have a couple in that range plus one more above or below, that works, too) and you need to have at least two (or a small group of cousins, must be related)

-You need to have cute, bright, happy winter gear. Include a photo in your inquiry.

-New clients only, because we love new clients. (previous clients are eligible for the 50% discount sessions, because we love you, too)

-You need to live in the Milwaukee metro area.

-You will need to sign a full model release so we can use the finished images to show off this type of session.

What you will receive: A 1 hour photo session with Anna at a date/time that is flexible, due to unpredictable snow, wind and sun. My brother has some seriously cute kids. We must just have good genes, eh? Mr. Oliver is a funny guy, reminds me of my eldest, Ty, when he was six. I love being able to capture my brother’s family every year in their annual family photo session; this year’s was in Milwaukee at the park around the corner from my house. Handy!

I love being a children’s photographer for many reasons. One of them is the spontaneous fun kids have just being, well, kids! These twin sisters in San Jose provide me with a whole session of crazy girly fun fun fun every single year. They are a constant crack-up.

One of my favorite families in San Jose, CA, I’ve been photographing this cutie since he was a baby. He now has a little brother and a little sister on the way. His daddy did some awesome research and got them the coolest swing set from Cedar Works, which is the playground company I dream of getting a set from someday (maybe for my grandchildren?). Love love love this shot. . . . and no playground is complete without a spy-glass, right?
